Udinese and the world of Italian football mourn the passing of Luca Mattiussi at the age of 53 after a long battle with illness. The Friulian coach, a native of Codroipo, stood out above all for his experience at the helm of the Primavera team, from 2012 to 2017, before undertaking a career as an observer for the Juventus club in the following period. Among the talents with whom he had the opportunity to work and who, also thanks to his skills, later established themselves as professionals, there are also the three goalkeepers who all entered the Italian national team: from Scuffet (now at Cagliari) to Meret , Napoli’s number one, passing through Vicario. With a short note, Udinese expressed all its sadness at the passing of Luca Mattiussi: “The club mourns the passing of Luca Mattiussi, a person of great depth and an extremely well-prepared coach. Mattiussi leaves an indelible human and professional memory in the Juventus family who will never forget him. From all the members of the Club, deepest condolences and closeness to his wife Monica, his children Anna Sofia, Christian and Alex and all his loved ones.” Mattiussi was a reference figure in Italian youth football and in particular for Udinese, with whom he played in all categories and reached the play-offs with the Giovanissimi in 2011.
