The White House has condemned the bizarre accusations that former president Donald Trump and his allies have leveled against Haitian immigrants in an Ohio town, calling the claim that they are eating cats and dogs “bizarre” and “hateful.”

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, herself an immigrant from Haiti, was asked if the Biden administration has a message to residents of Springfield, Ohio, where municipal buildings have become targets of bomb threats in the wake of former president Donald Trump making the ridiculous and baseless claims during his debate with Vice President Kamala Harris on Tuesday.

During the 90-minute session, the ex-president ranted about the false conspiracy theory in response to something Harris had said about the sizes of crowds at his rallies.

“In Springfield, they’re eating the dogs — the people that came in — they are eating the cats. They’re eating … they’re eating the pets of the people that live there,” he said.

A judge in Georgia has dismissed two criminal counts against Donald Trump in his 2020 election interference case.

Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee, who also dismissed one count against Trump allies, found that the state didn’t have the power to bring the charges connected to the alleged filing of false documents in federal court, according to Reuters.

In an at-times emotional speech to Justice Department staff on Thursday, Garland defended a “promise that we will not allow this Department to be used as a political weapon,” and that the agency’s norms are “a promise that we will not allow this nation to become a country where law enforcement is treated as an apparatus of politics.”

Trump’s campaign called Garland’s latest remarks “disgraceful.”

Garland has “done tremendous damage to a once great institution,” according to Trump’s communications director Steven Cheung.

“Using phony charges to interfere with the presidential election on behalf of the Democrat Party has to be stopped and those driving these Hoaxes have to be held accountable,” he said.

According to a new poll, the Democratic candidate leads Republican rival Donald Trump 47 per cent to 42 per cent in the race to win the 5 November presidential election.

She has increased her advantage after a debate against the former president earlier this week that voters largely think she won.

Ms Harris, 59, put Mr Trump, 78, on the defensive in a combative debate with a stream of attacks on his fitness for office and his myriad legal woes, highlighting the former president’s felony conviction on charges he falsified business records.

Some 52 per cent of voters familiar with the debate said Vice President Harris “gave the impression of having higher moral integrity” compared to 29 per cent who said the same of Mr Trump.

The debate, hosted by ABC News, attracted 67.1 million television viewers, according to Nielsen data, topping the roughly 51 million people who watched Mr Trump debate then-candidate Joe Biden in June.

Donald Trump has revealed he will not participate in a third presidential debate this election.

Trump declared, “THERE WILL BE NO THIRD DEBATE” in a Thursday afternoon post on his social media platform Truth Social.

“When a prizefighter loses a fight, the first words out of his mouth are, ‘I WANT A REMATCH,’” Trump wrote. “Polls clearly show that I won the Debate against Comrade Kamala Harris, the Democrats’ Radical Left Candidate, on Tuesday night, and she immediately called for a Second Debate.”

“She was a no-show at the Fox Debate, and refused to do NBC & CBS,” he added. “KAMALA SHOULD FOCUS ON WHAT SHE SHOULD HAVE DONE DURING THE LAST ALMOST FOUR YEAR PERIOD.”

Patrick Mahomes has revealed that he will not endorse Donald Trump or Kamala Harris in the 2024 presidential election, after the republican nominee praised the quarterback’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, for supporting his campaign.

The 28-year-old Kansas City Chiefs said he won’t be speaking publicly about his political views during a press conference for his team on September 11, as reported by CNN.

“I don’t want my place and my platform to be used to endorse a candidate or do whatever, either way,” he said. “I think my place is to inform people to get registered to vote. It’s to inform people to do their own research and then make the best decision for them and their family.”

Trump said in a Truth Social post on Thursday that there won’t be another debate between him and Vice President Kamala Harris, who is widely considered to have been the winner of Tuesday’s showdown.

After his debates against Biden and Harris, Trump said, “There will be no third debate.”
