The funding will enable Ukrainian communities to continue implementing 151 subprojects in 2025 and beyond, focusing on schools, kindergartens, hospitals, social housing, heating and water and other social infrastructure. The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided 55 million euros in EU guaranteed funds under Ukraine’s reconstruction program to rebuild hospitals, social housing, educational institutions, health systems heating, water and waste, as well as other critical social infrastructure in 2025 and beyond. The funding can be used for any of the 151 subprojects allocated under the program in Vinnytsia, Dnipropetrovsk, Zhytomyr, kyiv, Kirovohrad, Mykolaiv, Odessa, Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Cherkasy and Chernihiv oblasts. This contribution is part of the EIB Ukraine Urgent Solidarity Response Program developed in close partnership with the European Commission, underlining the European Union’s unwavering support for Ukraine’s recovery.
In 2024, several subprojects were successfully completed under the program, including a water supply facility in BuchaOblast of Kyiv, two schools in Vinnytsia Oblast, and a pediatric infectious diseases department of Zhytomyret Oblast now a sewer pressure collector in Zhmerynka, Vinnytsia Oblast. The sewer collector was completed on December 25 at a cost of €526,000. This involved reconstructing a 2.64 km sewer line with durable pipes and advanced sensors. This upgrade will ensure reliable wastewater transport for the next 50 years, benefiting more than 33,000 residents – including 4,000 displaced people – by improving sanitation, public health and environmental protection.
The Ukraine Recovery Program is a €340 million EIB framework loan supported by an EU technical assistance grant and aimed at helping communities rebuild vital social infrastructure. EIB Recovery Program in Ukraine
The modernization of the Zhmerynka sewer pressure collector in the Vinnytsia region was carried out within the framework of the Recovery Program of Ukraine, one of the multi-sectoral framework loans for recovery from the European Investment Bank (EIB). In total, the EIB is investing in three recovery programs totaling €640 million, complemented by up to €15 million in EU grants.
