On a some much awaited ruling delivered by the court, it immediately became a trending topic among all talking heads and quiet people alike. In a divided ruling, the justices standing with the Trump administration said they could continue to remand members of the Venezuelan Tren de Aragua gang under the provisions of the Alien Enemies Act. Benny Johnson was the first one to report on this on X (formerly Twitter), and let’s just say…the replies were spicy.

What is all this about? Ostensibly dating back to 1798, the Alien Enemies Act gave the president authority to suspend or deport aliens of countries with which the U.S. was at war or otherwise threatening. Here, Trump’s assertion was that the gang was a matter of national security to America due to the violent crimes committed by its members. The court lifted an injunction against deportations; however, here is the catch: the court did not rule on a grant of right to Alien Enemies Act use; its decision was more concerned about finding the right venue for the case.
And here comes reply chaos.
Some peeps were totally stoked: Beverly Turner declared, “IT’S ABOUT TIME, @SCOTUS,” while Curtis Hale added, “America wins!!!! It’s not just DJT!!!! He is our voice.” Another dissenting voice, ‘I am John Galt,’ sarcastically hailed the court: “Thank you for allowing us to export violent criminals.”‘
There were, however, other dissenting voices. Iceberg86300 (had thoughts) deemed the ruling as “judge shopping by place of detention,” accusing SCOTUS of skirting the issue with jurisdictional dabbling. “Did you miss that ‘little’ part of the constitution?” was RobIsntInACult’s retort.
Then came some imaginative takes, to put it mildly- One user saw Nazi Germany-“None of you seeing how this parallels Hitler/Holocaust is unreal.” Dicksmeasured further wild-geese chased: “Women don’t belong in government. Too emotional.” (Yikes.)
Conspiracy theorists arrived, of course. BSams1776 has given marching orders for the impeachment of the four female justices who too took a different position; apparently, they “can’t read.” They say those women are no good for America. Because nothing shouts legitimacy to a legal argument like sprinkling in an insult regarding gender, am I right?
All the complicated details of the ruling did little to faze the hype train. Trumpistas bagged it as a total victory, while critics howled about due process and overreach. But if we know anything, this certainly is not the last we are likely to hear about the Alien Enemies Act and its many after-effects.

So… who’s right? Depends whom you ask. Grab the popcorn; this legal drama surely continues.
