We can confirm that Luke has trained today at Carrington with no issues and the reason for his absence is purely to give him a rest, after playing for 75 minutes against Lyon, and helping the Reds stage that incredible late comeback.
“I can give you the example of Luke Shaw. In my mind, he was playing 30 minutes [against Lyon],” head coach Amorim told MUTV. “But, because of the problems we had at half-time with Victor [Lindelof] and Nous [Mazraoui] and then extra-time, he did a very good job but a lot of minutes.
“He has to feel that load to rest now and then he will train for the next game.”
Our next assignment, after the Wolves clash, is not until a week today, when we travel to Bournemouth.
