Rob and Michele Reiner died from “multiple sharp force injuries,” the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner confirmed on Wednesday.

The manner of death was ruled a homicide.

The Hollywood director-actor and his wife were found dead inside their home in the upscale Los Angeles neighbourhood of Brentwood on Sunday.
The couple’s son Nick Reiner has since been charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths.
The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office previously said Rob and Michele were stabbed to death in their home during the early morning hours of Sunday.
Nick arrested near university
According to authorities, Nick was arrested near the University of Southern California several hours after his parents’ bodies were discovered.
The 32-year-old accused killer made a brief appearance in court on Wednesday. He was shackled and wore a blue anti-suicide mock.

His attorney Alan Jackson declined to enter a plea on his client’s behalf. Nick’s arraignment was slated for Jan. 7.
The judge asked the accused, who was seated behind glass, if he was OK with waiving his right to a speedy arraignment.
“Yes, your honour,” he replied.
Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, married in 1989 and were also parents to another son, Jake, and their daughter Romy. Rob has another daughter, Tracy, whom he adopted during his previous marriage to actor-director Penny Marshall.

Couple’s bodies found by daughter
The couple was found by their daughter Romy, who reportedly told cops that Nick lived with their parents, was “dangerous” and should be considered a suspect.
According to multiple reports, Nick got into a heated argument on Saturday night at Conan O’Brien’s Christmas party. The public feud was loud enough for others to hear and Rob and Michele left the party after the fight.
Nick showed up to the party in a hoodie while other guests wore suits and dresses, per various reports.
Nick has been open about his struggles with drugs and addiction.
In 2015, he and Rob promoted Being Charlie, a semi-autobiographical film based on Nick’s experiences following heroin addiction and homelessness. It was first screened at the Toronto International Film Festival ahead of its 2016 release.
