The model code of conduct that came into force on March 16 with the announcement of the Lok Sabha election has been lifted.

In a communication to the Union Cabinet Secretary and state chief secretaries, the Election Commission said as results of Lok Sabha elections and assembly polls in Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with some assembly bypolls have been declared, “model code of conduct has ceased to be in operation with immediate effect”.

The model code of conduct is a set of conventions agreed upon by all stakeholders and imposed during elections. Its objective is to keep the campaigning, polling and counting process orderly, clean and peaceful and check any abuse of state machinery and finances by the party in power.

“We have a few questions on this.First question, why did PM and HM give specific investment advice to the 5 crore families investing in the stock market? Is it their job to give investment advice? Second, why both interviews were given to the same media house, owned by the same business group, which is also under SEBI investigation for manipulating stock market? Third, what is the connection between the BJP, the fake exit pollsters and the dubious foreign investors?, Rahul Gandhi asked.

“The MVA won through ‘Shakuni neeti’ (Machiavellian policy), but this election result would not have an impact on the upcoming polls and people will vote in the name of development and not casteism,” Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule alleged.

Newly elected Samajwadi Party MP from Faizabad Awadhesh Prasad Thursday said the BJP party is not the “real” Ram Bhakt. Prasad handed the defeat tp BJP’s Lallu Singh, by 54,567 votes in Faizabad Lok Sabha constituency, where a grand Ram temple was build in Ayodhya.

“My PM is going to be the Prime Minister of the country for the third time. All NDA leaders had a meeting yesterday…Nobody can deny that this victory of the NDA is the victory of the leadership of the Prime Minister. NDA received this thumping majority only due to him. Sometimes, we set such a huge target for ourselves that if there is even a little lapse, questions start being raised. In reality, it is no ordinary thing that the NDA has received the mandate for the third time…In yesterday’s meeting, all NDA allies accepted his leadership once again without any conditions,” LJP (RV) leader Chirag Paswan said while speaking to ANI.

“A lot of people are unsatisfied with this scheme and I think the elections have put a lot of impact on the Agniveer scene, especially in Uttar Pradesh and some other states. ‘Dayalu bhagwan’ should think about this and there should be discussions on this,”
