Olivia Munn Recalls Her Costar Jon Hamm Telling Her to ‘Bite’ Him ‘Really Hard’ During Intimate Scenes (Exclusive)

Oliva Munn is recalling her steamy love scenes with Jon Hamm on their new show, Your Friends & Neighbors.

In the new Apple TV+ series, the actress, 44, plays a character named Sam who is having a secret affair with 54-year-old Hamm’s Andrew “Coop” Cooper — a former hedge fund manager who is “still grappling with his recent divorce.”

While attending the show’s premiere in New York City on Tuesday, April 8, Munn, who wore a shimmering silver Roland Mouret dress, exclusively tells PEOPLE that “there’s a lot of sex scenes” in the show and reveals that there was “a lot of dialogue” about them prior to filming.

“My character wants something more from Jon’s character, but the only thing she’s getting from him at this point is this sexual relationship….so it’s really important that we really feel how much she’s leaning on this and trying to really connect with him through these moments. Those are their biggest connecting points,” the star says.

Munn also notes that there’s “a lot of choreography,” and a “lot of discussion,” that goes into making a sex scene look real. She says that intimacy coordinators are “like stunt coordinators or fight coordinators,” trying to make the scene look “believable and realistic.”

She specifically recalls talking through one scene where she has to “bite” Hamm in the bedroom.

“I was nervous but he just kept saying, ‘It’s okay. Bite really hard.’ And then I did. And he’s a pretty tough guy,” Munn says, reiterating, “He’s a very tough guy.”

The series sees Coop picking up the pieces of his life after being “fired in disgrace,” according to an official synopsis. He resorts to “stealing from the homes of his neighbors in the exceedingly affluent Westmont Village, only to discover that the secrets and affairs hidden behind those wealthy facades might be more dangerous than he ever imagined.”
