1. The Biden-Harris administration’s Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, signed into law in June 2022, has given $300 million to STOP School Violence Act grants, which educate K–12 students and teachers on how to recognize warning signs and respond quickly to violence in schools.
2. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act also allows enhanced background checks for gun purchasers under 21.

The president of Everytown for Gun Safety (a nonprofit that fights gun violence) spoke on the VP’s work, stating: “Vice President Kamala Harris has helped lead the strongest gun safety administration in American history, with accomplishments that include breaking the 30-year logjam on federal gun safety legislation and taking historic executive actions to combat gun trafficking and ghost guns.”
According to Americanprogress.org, as of April of 2024, gun violence in the US is trending downward at a historical rate, and gun homicides are down from 2023 by 13.1%. Mass shootings are also down by 29.3% compared to 2023.
