Inter starts the new season with a certainty: together with Roma and Atalanta, it is the only big club to have confirmed its coach. Not only that, Simone Inzaghi is moving forward and renewing: the coach has signed a new contract until 2026, his salary has increased to 6.5 million plus 2 million in bonuses. With these figures, Inzaghi becomes the highest paid coach of the next Serie A. The new contract was announced by president Beppe Marotta in the press conference to present the season, which Inzaghi was also present at, commenting on the renewal as follows: “I am very happy. I thank the club, the president and all the directors; here I feel at home and appreciated, this is the thing that matters most of all. Last year I said that our big goal was the second star and it arrived, this year we want to make our fans happy because if they are happy, we are too. The second star belongs to everyone: we have been a single body and we will have to be this year too”.
INZAGHI’S RENEWAL IS OFFICIAL: ALL THE DETAILS OF THE MARKET AGREEMENT – “The biggest challenge will be to improve in our daily work, me first. The team has done something extraordinary, but now everyone will be waiting for us. The club has moved very well on the market, well in advance. We have signed three players that both I, the management and the president wanted strongly: Martinez, Zielinski and Taremi”. BUCHANAN’S SUBSTITUTE – “We had a setback with Buchanan that we are already evaluating, we have to complete that role because he will be absent until Christmas. As always, my managers will be ready, aware that next year there will be almost 70 games. We are Inter, we have the duty to play as many as possible and reach the end of our objectives. We really like Carlos Augusto as a fifth, we want to sign a player who can be Bastoni’s deputy”. COURTSHIPS – “There have been courtships and not just this year, but I have never thought of leaving Inter because I am in a place where I feel appreciated and I have not listened to anyone. I am happy here, there is a great synergy with the club, with the team and with the fans”. NEW SEASON – “We will have to be even more ferocious, always stay on top of things starting from training. Repeating a season like last year will be difficult: we will all start with 0 points, other teams will also want to win. The last two winners of the Scudetto, Milan and Napoli, did not qualify for the Champions League the following year and I have already reminded my boys of this”. WHO IS RETURNING AND WHEN – “Two excellent coaches in Conte and Fonseca are back, our opponents are getting stronger and we will have to be ready. We will have players who will arrive little by little, but when they return they will have three more days of vacation than the 21 they were entitled to because we had an intense season. Tomorrow we will start working. Zielinski and Asllani will arrive on the 18th, the Italians on the 24th, Arnautovic on the 26th, the French and Dutch on August 3rd, then Lautaro and Carboni on August 7th-8th”. ITALY FLOP – “I spoke to the Italians, they were down in spirits as is right. We didn’t do very well at the European Championships but we are in good hands because Spalletti is an excellent coach. The injuries of Acerbi, Berardi and Dimarco himself have weighed on us. We were disappointed, but if we think about the Under 19s and Under 16s there is some material. We have to recover as soon as possible”. CHAMPIONS LEAGUE OBJECTIVE – “They ask me this every year, time will tell if it will be the strongest Inter ever. The Champions League? We are facing top clubs with big budgets but it must not be an excuse, we saw two years ago what we were capable of doing”. CARBONI – “We saw what Valentin did at Monza and in the Copa America. I am waiting for him together with our captain. We all know Zielinski, in the last 5 seasons he was the player who had made the most starts in the whole of Serie A: he has excellent qualities and will give us a great hand. We have been following Taremi for some time, he impressed us a lot in the double clash in the Champions League. He fits perfectly into our way of playing and will give us a great hand. Martinez? We had a wide choice of goalkeepers, we went for him because he did well at Genoa and respects our principles. He knows he has Sommer in front of him, but he will be ready”. THE EXES – “I can only thank Zhang. He brought me to Inter and gave me, together with the other directors, this great opportunity and I will thank him forever. I thanked the five guys who are no longer with us privately but it is right to do so publicly too. They were very important, they gave so much both on and off the pitch”.
TACTICAL MOVES – “We have three new players and we will have to see how they will fit in, we always try to change. Last year we also changed something in the final stages of the match: this year we will start again with our own imprint, but ready to improve and create something that can be unpredictable for the opponents”.
