Weekend one of Coachella was all about taking in your favorite artist’s performances (Justin Bieber! Sabrina Carpenter! Karol G!)—but a big part of the fun of attending the annual music festival was also taking in the one-of-a-kind street style scene.
Boho fashion, in particular, was alive and well at Coachella this year. The star-studded crowd, including Lisa, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Teyana Taylor, proved that boho-chic is still not going anywhere anytime soon.
The festival has long been associated with a groovy, free-spirited fashion sensibility. In the 2010s, Coachella’s boho style ran rampant over our Tumblr inspiration right alongside snapshots of indie-sleaze. You could often catch showgoers in suede vests, leather shorts, or skinny jeans. Perhaps there was even a romantic, ruffled blouse or fringed bag thrown in for good measure. Flash-forward to the present tense, and now this year’s A-list festival goes are all keeping the spirit alive, but with a much more modern feel. (Meaning, there are no flower crowns in sight.)
Blackpink member Lisa, for one, hit the Coachella grounds in a casual-cool look that channeled boho in a more discreet way. She paired a white macramé mini dress with an oversized leather jacket, and paired it with her best cowboy boots. It was not full boho—rather, a hint of boho, with an edgier slant. Ditto for Anya Taylor-Joy in her laced-up little camisole top, paired with skin-tight leather trousers and a bright red Gucci bag. It felt boho-adjacent, while feeling just a dash more sleek and streamlined, too.
