Devin Strader says Marcus Shoberg played a factor in his breakup with Jenn Tran.
Days after the couple made their split public during The Bachelorette season 21 finale’s After the Final Rose special, Devin claims his decision was “reaffirmed” when he saw her scenes with Marcus.
“Being on the show and rewatching the episodes back is something that most people, probably a lot of people, will not and can never understand,” said Devin in a lengthy Instagram video on Tuesday, Sept. 10.
“I had to clearly watch myself play second to someone else, and that’s okay, you know, we moved on from that. I wasn’t her first choice,” Devin said. “But again, a relationship is two people, and that’s part of growing together. You know, I don’t fault her for the feelings that she had towards Marcus, but, you know, I wasn’t informed of that even during our relationship.”

The freight company owner continued by referencing some of the transgressions Jenn previously called him out for, including being more distant after getting engaged in Hawai’i.
“I was only made aware of that during the decision of me communicating less post-breakup, after a breakup almost a month later, you know, so that’s hard to go through, and you know, at that point in time, I felt like my decisions were reaffirmed in breaking up with her in the first place,” said Devin.
“You know, I felt like I had made the right choice. So, yeah, maybe I was a little bit more calloused leading up to the last couple weeks towards [After the Final Rose]but it wasn’t intentional,” he continued. “It wasn’t, you know, something that I felt like I was doing out of malice.”
Devin ended his video by stating that he was “not trying to play the victim” and that he was trying to “explain my feelings and my side of the story because, again, my truth, I feel, is important in this situation, too.”
While speaking with Jesse Palmer in the After the Final Rose studio, Marcus admitted that watching some of his final scenes with Jenn was “tough.”

“There was some painful truths that I stumbled upon during that time in Hawai’i. When I got back home, I had no idea if I had made the right decision or not,” he confessed. “It took some time to realize that we had made the right choice. … The hardest part for me was feeling like I let her down.”
