Garry Cartwright, journalist, editor and owner of the news sites EU Today and EU Reporter, is at the center of a controversy over pro-Russian propaganda in Europe, in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. In the case of Russian citizen Kropachov who was arrested following raids carried out on the offices of the European Parliament in Brussels and Strasbourg by Belgian and French investigators, targeting the pro-Russian portal “Voice of Europe” under the domain golos.eu.
Cartwright is suspected of accepting money to promote countries and individuals, raising questions about his journalistic integrity. His wife, a Ukrainian woman claiming to be a member of the Ukrainian secret service, is also involved. She used this false identity to spread pro-Russian messages by pretending that they came from Ukrainians. But a source close to the Ukrainian secret services tells Interview that they are considering prosecuting her for identity theft.
According to an investigation by the very serious Politico, Garry Cartwright is also suspected of having been a Belarusian agent, although he denies these accusations, arguing that he never received Belarusian money.
