That firebrand Bernie Sanders just called to action, and that went like wildfire across social media. Here is the progressive Senator’s bold message to X (or rather, Twitter): “We need people in every part of this country to launch progressive campaigns [‘that represent the needs of working-class people,’ added Sanders, ‘If you’ve ever thought about running for office, now’s the time. Just be simple enough right? Wrong.”] Replies turned the scene into a political battleground faster than you can say ‘tax the rich’.

Vitally, here comes that immediate backlash: X user @xkmendl coming in HOT: ‘How would you know? You’ve never worked a day in your life.’ Ouch. Then they really let him have it: “Corrupt liberal, bull shit artist, career politician,” followed by demands for resignation. Yikes. Coming back with an argument to @25NDSU: True. But the working class voted REPUBLICAN!! That’s who represents us. It was even the MAGA crowd that wasn’t buying it – @msbizzymum bluntly stated ‘The working class is MAGA now keep up Bernie.’
The policy debates got wild too somewhere in the thread. @Tron_Thadude and @Jim_Cornelius started arguing about VAT taxes and tariffs like two econ professors at a dive bar. Jim tried explaining ‘A widget produced in France and a widget produced in the USA will both be subject to 20% VAT in France,’ but Tron fired back about unbalanced trade. I honestly lost track after the third widget mention.
Then there were the classic Bernie criticisms, like that of @MostoyzwinAl linking to a hysterical article screeching, ‘MULTI MILLIONAIRE SOCIALIST BERNIE SANDERS IS FLYING ON PRIVATE JETS!’ @Laura77563 called ‘Progressive and working class are opposite.’ @bmeck99 went full conspiracy mode: ‘So you’re calling for more Soros candidates…want to dismantle America.’ But not everything was negative – suggestively spend more time on that which is less TRANS RIGHTS, DEI, CLIMATE CHANGE’ rather than on real matters to people according to @tim_tx06.
Speed of accusation outhypocrites on that private jet (allegedly) of Bernie Sanders. @Stephen81770019 posted ‘Post like these are always so funny coming from you. Oh the irony’ along with the laughing emoji. @bloewenberg sniped ‘You mean… something that you’ve never done (Mr Pharma Boy)’ while @Snot_Now advised ‘We need you to retire before Trump puts you in jail, grifter.’
Some replies existed simply. @WillieJayTwit released the note ‘Da owligachs da owligachs’ which we have chosen to interpret as performance art. @deepset1010 aka ‘loser rallies…grief therapy sessions lol’ sounds like a great name for a band to me.

What’s pretty clear? Bernie still knows how to rock the boat. Be it love or hate, 82-year-old senator made people TALK about the representation of working classes, progressive policies that are to be adopted, and whether career politicians can actually relate to everyday Americans. Messy maybe, but the conversation is at least happening. Now do excuse me while I check Google for just what is a widget.
