Luciano Spalletti has officially communicated the definitive list of the 26 players who will participate in the 2024 European Championships in Germany, which will start for the Azzurri on June 15th, in the debut against Albania valid for group B, in Dortmund. Italy will subsequently challenge Spain (Thursday 20 June in Gelsenkirchen) and Croatia on Monday 24 June in Leipzig. Compared to the first list of players who took part in the Coverciano meeting and the first friendly test against Turkey in Bologna, our coach excluded Lazio goalkeeper Ivan Provedel, keeping Alex Meret together with Gianluigi Donnarumma and Guglielmo Vicario, the midfielder of Turin Samuele Ricci – it is therefore the Juventus player Nicolò Fagioli who wins the ballot – and the Bologna striker Riccardo Orsolini. Here is the list of 26 of the national team for Euro 2024: GOALKEEPERS: Donnarumma, Vicario, Meret. DEFENDERS: Bastoni, Bellanova, Buongiorno, Calafiori, Cambiaso, Darmian, Di Lorenzo, Dimarco, Gatti, Mancini. MIDFIELDERS: Barella, Cristante, Fagioli, Folorunsho, Frattesi, Jorginho, Pellegrini. ATTACKERS: Chiesa, El Shaarawy, Raspadori, Retegui, Scamacca, Zaccagni. NEW MODULE – It’s too early to say, but the friendly match on Sunday 9 June against Bosnia, at the “Castellani” in Empoli, could be the first opportunity to test the 3-5-2, which as an alternative to the 3-4-3 should to be Italy’s reference gaming system. A feeling strengthened by the retention of several “fifths” in the list of 26 and by the preference of the Torino winger Raoul Bellanova over the Bolognese Orsolini. Together with the former Inter player, the other full-range options are represented by Di Lorenzo, Darmian and Cambiaso on the right, Dimarco and El Shaarawy on the opposite lane. PROVEDEL IN PRE-ALARM – Despite his exclusion in favor of Meret, in light of the less than perfect physical condition of the Napoli number one (who missed Wednesday’s test against the Under 20 selection due to muscle strain) Ivan Provedel was pre-alarmed – alerted and will continue to train in Rome, remaining in contact with the goalkeeping coach Marco Savorani. Speaking of possible changes to the list of players called up, UEFA allows changes to be made within the 24 hours before the first match of Euro 2024 – Italy takes on Albania on 15 June, at 9pm – while the goalkeepers can be replaced before the next match against Spain on Thursday 20 June. THE NEW MEETING – Luciano Spalletti’s squad will meet again tomorrow at the federal technical center in Coverciano and at 5pm they will take to the pitch for their first training session, the initial 15′ of which will be accessible to the press. At 7.15pm there will then be a meeting with the head of the UEFA referees commission Roberto Rosetti, who will present the directives and guidelines that will be followed during the European Championships. The departure of the Azzurri for Germany and for the Iserlohn headquarters is scheduled for Monday 10 June. The following day he will have his first training session at the Hemberg Stadion Nord.
