Donald Trump stirred up a row after he addressed the recent Brown University shooting in Rhode Island that killed 2. The POTUS said that the institution is one of the greatest schools in the world. The MAGA chief then proceeded to say that “things can happen” and urged prayers for the remaining 9 that were injured. The president’s comments were not taken lightly. Social media slammed Trump for not showing “empathy” and rather being a “sociopath” regarding such a heinous crime. Earlier in a post on Truth Social, Trump had said: “I have been briefed on the shooting that took place at Brown University in Rhode Island. The FBI is on the scene. The suspect is in custody. God bless the victims and the families of the victims!”Furthermore, Trump got into more trouble when he claimed that the suspect was in custody even before the shooter was caught. He deleted the post and later said: “The Brown University Police reversed their previous statement — The suspect is NOT in custody.”
Social media response:
Brown University shooting
A shooting at Brown University’s Barus and Holley engineering building in Providence left two students dead and nine others injured during a final exam review. A man in his 30s, not enrolled at the university, was taken into custody. Police continue investigations, with some campus areas still restricted. Exams and projects have been postponed, while families of the victims receive support.
