Seven people were taken to the hospital for suspected carbon monoxide poisoning at a Maine day care on Wednesday, Feb. 12, authorities said.
Police were first notified at 3:20 p.m. local time about the “potential carbon monoxide” at the day care, Building Blocks, in Kittery, Maine.
“There were 27 children and approximately 10 staff in the building at the time of the call,” Kittery police said in a statement. “Kittery Fire Department, Stewarts Ambulance, and Kittery Police Department responded. Additional mutual aid ambulance and fire assistance was also called to the scene to provide assistance.”
Police said that the seven people who were taken to the hospital had “non-life threatening injuries” and no deaths or serious injuries had been reported.
It was not clear how many of those people were kids or adults.

“Children are being reunited with their parents in accordance with the daycare’s protocols,” police said.
The cause of the suspected poisoning will be investigated by the Maine fire marshal, according to police.
Building Blocks did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Further details were not available.
