Maya Rudolph’s schedule apparently just got a whole lot busier.
Harris, the presumptive Democratic nominee, is expected to face off against former president and Republican nominee Donald Trump for the Oval Office.
The SNL alum, who was a cast member from 2000 to 2007, has returned to the show numerous times since as both host and guest actor.
She’s currently up for two Emmys this year for the episode she hosted in May. She previously won Emmys in 2020 and 2021 for appearances on the show, during which she played Harris in both episodes.
This includes an ongoing stint portraying Harris, which began during the 2020 presidential run when the politician first sought the Oval Office and later ran as Biden’s vice president.
Following President Joe Biden’s ending of his reelection campaign and Harris’s subsequent campaign of her own, fans have been calling for Maya to come back as Harris on SNL. The series returns for its 50th season on Sept. 28.
It has not been announced which actors will play Trump and his running mate, J.D. Vance. SNL cast member James Austin Johnson has most recently portrayed the former president on the show.
BuzzFeed has reached out to NBC for confirmation of Rudolph’s return to SNL.
